Meet Our Team








Randy lives in Cary and grew up in nearby Randolph County, NC. While a student at Southeastern Seminary he met his wife, Susan, who was a student at Meredith College. Susan is an elementary school teacher at Dillard Drive Elementary School. The Sherron's have one child, Alex, who works for FOX Sports covering NASCAR. Randy’s ministry includes an emphasis on spiritual development and in conjunction with that he’s led both beginning and advanced spiritual formation classes for Duke Divinity School students. He has also received interim ministry training and executive coach's training from the Center for Congregational Health located in Winston-Salem, N.C. In addition to Southeastern Seminary, Randy holds degrees from Campbell University and Drew Divinity School. Ridge Road is his fourth pastorate.


MR. KERRY JOHNSON  |  Minister of Music



Kerry grew up here in Raleigh, and has been active in music since the age of 10. He completed a Batchelor of Music in piano performance at Furman University in Greenville, SC and went on to complete a Masters in piano performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.  While his collegiate focus was classical piano, his musical background includes a broad range of styles and endeavors.  He has been active in various aspects of choral and church music all of his life, with experience as a singer, song writer, conductor, accompanist and soloist.  Kerry has recorded 3 CD’s, two as pianist with the Celtic fusion group Bragh Adair, and more recently a solo piano album of original compositions called Ebenezer Crossing.  He resides in Raleigh with his wife Sue, and his children Wesley and Martha are graduate students at The University of Minnesota and The University of South Carolina respectively. 


MRS. PENNY ATWOOD  |  Director of Weekday Preschool



“You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl” holds true for Penny. A native of West Virginia, she grew up in the West Virginia hills. She graduated from Concord University with a BS degree in elementary education. She worked on her Master’s Degree from West Virginia University before moving to North Carolina 25 years ago with her husband, Paul, and two daughters, Kelly and Amy at which time she became the Weekday Preschool Director at RRBC. Penny lives in Clayton, attends church in Garner, and dotes on three granddaughters: Haley, Abby and Adriana! She loves to read and spend time at the beach. Penny claims to be a “TARBILLY” now (half tarheel and half hillbilly). Her favorite scripture is “Choose you this day whom ye will serve…as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” She lives by the creed to always give people more than they expect to get.


MRS. LOIS MCCOY  |  Office Assistant



Originally from Virginia, Lois has lived in North Carolina since 1980.  A graduate of Virginia Tech, she later received her Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southeastern Seminary.  She has taught elementary school and was a children's minister for over 20 years.  She and her husband Mac have two adult children and two grandchildren.  When not working, she likes to spend time with her grandchildren or quilting.
