Our identity
Ridge Road is a baptist church with a wide range of beliefs and viewpoints. Anyone and everyone who walks through our doors is welcome.
As baptists, we embrace several key principles like religious freedom, separation of church and state, authority of the scriptures, and the priesthood of all believers. We are a member church of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and participate in the larger Christian community beyond baptist life.
You could describe our church and worship as moderate – we interpret scriptures seriously, but not necessarily literally, we support women in all leadership and ministry positions, we lean more liturgical in Sunday morning worship, and we strongly value congregational participation and input.
While our historical baptist identity drives a lot of what we do, the most important thing to us is cultivating a meaningful, authentic community of worshipers. We invite you to join us in that mission regardless of what your previous church experience is.
Our HISTORY
We’ve been here a long time, but we’ve grown and changed throughout the years. Ridge Road was founded in 1954 as a moderate church on what was then the outskirts of Raleigh. We were called to serve the rapidly expanding West Raleigh suburbs. The original church building (a small house included with the purchase of the land) still stands, but now we simply call it “the Hut”. All three of our church buildings were built by the church and for the church.
We’re proud of our roots, but we’re also proud to change. In 1978, we elected our first woman to the diaconate and soon after called our first woman minister. In 2002, we changed affiliation to the Cooporative Baptist Fellowship. The make up of Raleigh has changed in the past 70 years, and as has our congregation. Still, our aims remain constant: be a devoted body of believers while serving near and far communities.

Meet Trey
PASTOR, Dr. Trey Davis
Trey is a native North Carolinian, growing up in Winston-Salem before graduating from Davidson College. He has a Master of Divinity from Wake Forest University and a Doctor of Ministry from Duke University. For fifteen years, he served as the Minister for Youth & College and as the Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in Raleigh. He was called to pastor Ridge Road in 2021. He and his wife Jennifer have three daughters Caroline, Audrey, and Lila.

Meet Jill
MINISTER OF MUSIC, Rev. Jill Knight
Jill graduated from Wake Forest University in 1995 (during the Tim Duncan era) with a degree in English. After working at a veritable smorgasbord of jobs and raising three amazing children, she earned her MDiv at Campbell University Divinity School, with concentrations in music/worship and chaplaincy/counseling. When not directing the small but mighty RRBC choir, you can find Jill and her husband at their children's various sporting events or walking their two black labs.

MEET CLAIRE
DIRECTOR OF ADMIN & COMMUNICATION, Claire Petty
Claire is a devoted Raleigh native. She started at Ridge Road in early 2024 after previously working at a local marketing agency. She majored in Media & Journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill and has a passion for creative storytelling. In 2025, she married her high-school sweetheart, Caleb, and together they’ve raised Ollie, a ginormous black rescue pup. When she isn’t at RRBC, you may spot her in North Raleigh at Sola Coffee Café, where she also works part-time.
